Michael Fisher is a songwriter and composer in the Los Angeles area. His music, a tuneful and textured variety of pop & electronica that draws influences from all across the musical spectrum, is available for publishing and licensing.

      • Tall Shadows
        I first recorded this piece in 1994 and called it "Distant Mildew." Someone suggested this name was not marketable, so the re-recorded version is renamed. Rather Pink Floyd-sounding.

      • The Way We Were
        Ska-Punk cover of the '70s Marvin Hamlisch classic. Recorded in 2010.
      • Hard Times 2010
        Originally written in 1979 as a hard rock tune, redone in 1982 sans percussion as a goofy upbeat tune, the 1982 recording transformed into edgy ska-punk in 2010.
      • Spake The Lover
        Composed in 1978, once a performance staple with Michael Kellogg, then made into Ska and recorded in 2003.
      • Naked If I Want To
        Cover version of a Moby Grape tune, produced in 2010 for a Moby Bits tribute record.

      • Knives And Ashes
        Processed anger in the wake of my Father's passing. Recorded in early 2008.
      • Belly
        Composed in 1979 & 1980, recorded in 2003. An ode to the waistline.
      • Slave
        Composed and recorded in 2004. What things do we slave ourselves to?
      • The Wrecking Crew
        Based on a musical bit from the Guitar Craft days, developed and recorded in 2004. Build it up and tear it down.
      • Tryptophan
        A trip to the '70s, composed Thanksgiving Day 2010 and recorded through the end of that year. Has a melody but no words.
      • He Has God
        This one is more political than I usually get. I built this around samples I grabbed of some scary right-wing callers to an NPR show after Bush 43's State of the Union speech.
      • Cliffhanger
        Created as the soundtrack for a short film called "Wishlist," an entry in the 48 Hour Film Project for 2011. The guitars and bass are played live, the rest is loops and samples. Catchy and fun.
      • Beltway
        Completed in October 2011, this idea showed up on bass guitar, and this recording has no guitars - 2 bass parts, sequenced drums and sequenced organ. Retro fun.

        Built around a collage of electrical sound fx, this was my first NST piece. Composed 1997, produced 2003.

        Loop and sample-based version of a guitar piece. Composed on guitar in 1984, produced in 2005.

      • Avon Lady
        I wrote this song at age 18 in Germany. I was sitting in my Oma's bathroom and saw Avon products, which seemed incongruous - the concept of this woman coming in with this assortment of amazing products launched me, and 30 minutes later I had this song

      • Absolution
        I originally created this in 2004, and set it aside thinking it needed guitars that I never got around to adding. In January 2012 I re-listened and realized it was complete...so remastered and complete, here is Absolution.
      • Sargasso
        Originally composed in 2007, from a theme that came to me at Guitar Craft L1 in Argentina. Produced in 2006, one-handed while recovering from arm surgery.
